A day on the West Virginia Central

On Saturday I visited the West Virginia Central Railroad to take some photos and work on a story for MSR&LHA's log train. With fresh snow on the ground from Friday evening, one couldn't ask for a more beautiful scene to photograph trains along the Tygart river. The day started in Belington, we would head to Elkins picking up freight cars from various industries along the way. Once in Elkins we would backtrack back to Belington and onto Tygart Junction where we would drop off the cars for the A&O to pick up. Below are a few photos from the trip, a full trip report and more photos will be added later.

Working on the railroad and a side trip to Blackwater Falls.

Over the past weekend my father and I headed down to Pocahontas county to do some work at Cass and for me to get some photos of the work going on. The Mountain State Railroad and Logging Historical Association (msrlha.org) is currently restoring a Climax logging locomotive on the grounds of the Cass Scenic Railroad State Park. Many volunteers showed up for the work session and I tried to show it in the following photos.

Sunday we went a little out of our way and headed over to Blackwater Falls. It has been a very cold and snowy winter so far in West Virginia and the falls showed it.

Although the walkway was closed to the falls, it didnt stop me or others from going down to them.
